1. What is included in my instrument's service and calibration?

For Grain Protein Meters:

  • Applicable software updates
  • Inspect main board and cables
  • Clean and inspect machine incl. cells
  • Re-pack check cell
  • Check motor and sensors
  • Replace lamp
  • Reset SD card
  • Confirm accuracy and repeatability with reference grain samples


For Grain Moisture Meters:

  • Full disassembly and ultrasonic clean of the grinding/ measuring cell
  • Mechanical calibration of the grinding/ measuring cell
  • Battery replacement
  • 14 point calibration check
  • Reference grain sample check
  • Calibration report/summary


For Water Activity Meters:

  • Applicable software updates
  • Full disassembly and cleaning
  • Electrical safety check
  • Factory calibration and verify readings on aW standards
  • Certificate of calibration

2. How long does my instrument's service and calibration take?

As we draw closer to harvest, turnaround time can be as long as 15-20 business days upon receipt. Off-season it usually takes 6-8 business days upon receipt.

Ensure that your instruments are ready for the demands of harvest by sending them for service ahead of time. To know the current turnaround time, please call us or drop a message through our technical service request form.

 

3. How often does my instrument need to be serviced and calibrated?

For optimum performance, original equipment manufacturers recommend an annual service and calibration for water activity, and an annual service and calibration check for grain protein and moisture meters.

4. What am I charged with for my instrument's service and calibration?

Besides the standard and fixed rate for labour, you may be charged for

  • Provision of a loan machine - If requested and a unit is available
  • Chargeable parts used
  • Freight for serviced meter - Unless picked up

5. Should I clean my instrument?

Please refer to your machine's user manual for the proper cleaning procedure and requirements.

Your machine should be fairly clean before each use.

7. Do you service other equipment and instruments, besides water activity and grain protein/ moisture meters?

9. Do we need to inform you prior sending our instrument in?

For regular calibration and service: There is no need to inform us when/ if you have sent us your instrument. However, if you message us in advance, we appreciate the heads-up and we shall be expecting to receive your machine.

For repairs: Please let us know your experience so we can fix your machine and work towards the solution.
